WAR WORLD TAKEOVER is the second volume in a grand reissue of War World that will present Haven’s history in a chronological fashion for the very first time. Takeover is a trade hardcover volume and includes eight new stories as well as two previously published yarns.

On Earth, overpopulation and rising nationalism require the resettlement of millions of troublesome minorities or the fragile peace between the USSR and the USA will go down in flames. It is up to the CoDominium to solve this problem and it just so happens the Bureau of ReLocation has discovered the perfect dumping ground for millions of unwanted minorities and religious fanatics while the mining companies exploiting Haven’s considerable resources need a cheap and expendable labor pool. One hand washes the other, thus the CD Bureau of Intelligence gives orders to subvert Harmony rule and turn Haven into a CoDominium Protectorate.

Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Haven are having their own problems due to too many transportees from Earth, too few resources, too few live births and the most inhospitable environment known to sustain life—just barely. If that’s not enough, now they have to face a hostile takeover by the very people they left Earth to escape! For more info, visit our new War World web site at www.warworldcentral.com

Continuation of War World: Discovery. 10 Short stories presented in chrononlogical order. Main theme of the book is the takeover of Haven by the Codominium and Corporation interests. It also covers additional forced relocation to Haven such as the Dinneh, Muslims, and political undesireables. It also contains a story concerning the Saurons while they were still members of the Codominium.

The four-star rating was based on expanding the story of Haven and the Codominium, continuity between stories, consitency of style between various authors, and I'm an outright fan of the series. It also conained content for Harmony, Dineh, and Saurons.

This is an good read for fans and those who would like to ease into reading the series. For new readers I suggest reading the earlier books for its gritier and hard edge approach such as War World, Vol 1: The Burning Eye onward.

Overall I liked this book . It was a little slow in a few spots but it made up for it. The only thing missing is a recommendation on which book to read next
As someone who has long been a fan of the War World series created by Jerry Pournelle and John Carr this latest work is an excellent continuation to the Series. While the original series was very good the stories tended to jump around chronologically. John Carr has resurrected the series with many great new stories that go in order and make it easier to follow the overall future history that began with The Mote in God's Eye and the Mercenary.

I am certainly looking forward to future books in this series.
Carr does an excellent job reviving and rationalizing this enjoyable series. Most of this book is new stories, presented in logical chronological sequence, which expand upon the history of planet Haven and place it firmly in the context of Jerry Pournelle's CoDominium future history. The stories are generally good and the high price of the book is justified by the production value and the satisfying return of this series. I am looking forward to the next volume, which will continue the story of the CoDominium's departure from Haven.
Have you read War World I-IV?

Have you read War World Invasion?

Codominium Revolt on War World?
Blood Feuds?
Blood Vengeance?

Did you wait 13 years and then become surprised as hell when Pournelle gave Carr permission to buy the overpriced and 60% already gone over material Battle of Sauron?

Discovery?
Takeover?

If you haven't read the other 11 books don't bother reading this. There's too much you're missing. If you've read this far, you know why you're looking at this book.

Buy it.
While mostly a reprint of class War World stories this includes some nice new material as well. Glad to see this back in print.
War world is one of my favorite series. Pournelle's work was always fantastic.
